about

Early this year the band reconvened to inhabit a studio space. Songs came quickly and they walked away from the desk with a new record and realisation that when they were writing, recording and putting on some of the finest live shows around, they were unstoppable.

That reinforcement is tattooed on record opener, lead single and title track, ‘Takes One To Know One’. It encapsulates both a childish insult and the driving sound of classic Graveyard Train. Repeated listens of the entire LP reveals gems and oddities buried in a sublime, sometimes tortured marriage of country music, stoner rock, classic Graveyard gang vocals, haunting storytelling and the stellar musicianship that dyed-in-the-wool fans of the band have come to expect.

With their new record under their arm, and their own record label, Black Hat Rackets, Graveyard Train have paired up with revered European label Cargo Records to release the new record to a worldwide audience ahead of a national run of dates, dovetailing into a month-long European tour across July and August.

Out now through Black Hat Rackets.

Track Name: Close The Book
VERSE1

We'd like to thank you for your time,
for leading us here till the end of the line.
Where words disappear like wind thru your ears
where all the uncertain becomes clear

CHORUS

What can I say my brothers, brothers all around me
What can I say my sisters, sisters all around

We're so sorry for your loss

VERSE 2

Of course our thoughts are with you and yours,
they fumble the words while preaching the cause.
All straining to hear your whisper again

CHORUS

What can I say my brothers, brothers all around me
What can I say my sisters, sisters all around

VERSE 3

We try our best not to forget,
its the end of the world everyday.
We carry on without know quite what to say

CHORUS

What can I say my brothers, brothers all around me
What can I say my sisters, sisters all around
What can I say my brothers, brothers all around me
What can I say my sisters, sisters all around

OUTRO

Close the book,
Soak the flame
Click your heals
Drop the glass
Hedge your bets
Shut your eyes and we'll try our best not to forget
Track Name: The Parasite
When darkness surrounds you,
and your weary and searching for life.
I will come and find you,
take your hand and hold it in mine.

Ill lead us by the waters edge,
where black waves crash out our feet.
And in that darkness by the waters edge,
I will begin to speak.

My darling, I will, be your mind and speak your voice

Ill see your sight and choose your choice,
because I am your Parasite.
Track Name: The Creep
All along you've been trying to hide,
All along you've been trying to hide.
Don't go, don't go, we're running out of time
Im going down, down down,
I'm gonna find you today

All along you've been trying to run,
All this while you've been trying to run.
Don't go, don't go, we're running out of time
Im going down, down down,
Seems like we've just got one day

Im gonna stand on your shoulders
Im know the way your gonna turn
I feel like a million dollars
I know the end is nowhere near
I got a brand new haircut
Im gonna show you a real wild time

You've got some things I gotta learn
I'll drink your perfume till it burns
Lay wide awake until you call
We'll have it all in one day
Track Name: She Likes To Eat The Skin
The boilers gone all wrong,
the linesman like to smoke and lets the train keep going,
lets the train keep rolling

And when it floats away,
that bridge was never safe whats all the town folks say,
now the towns folk pray

That we, will rise on up to the sky,
rest in the gaze of the lord on high,
there ain't no lord on high

She likes to eat the skin, to fall in love with angels of the morning,
sings a while

While we, will rise on up to the sky,
rest in the gaze of the lord on high,
there ain't no lord on high

And we, will rise on up to the sky,
rest in the gaze of the lord on high,
there ain't no lord on high
Track Name: The Chrysalid
Put your head in the dirt,
and start to eat your way down.
Your belly will hurt,
but keep on eating it down.
Wiggle like the worm,
but keep on wriggling down.
Till you reach the centre,
you can lay yourself down.

Lay yourself down

Deep in the darkness,
you feel your body failing.
Listen to the silence,
you hear the trumpets a wailing.
You try to make out the sound,
its getting louder now,
a little louder now,
its getting louder now
I am the Chrysalid Born

Jump up into the sky,
suck in all of the air.
Float, flap, hover or fly,
but keep on sucking that air.
When you reach the heavens,
its best you don't look down.
Find yourself a nice patch on the cloud,
where you can lay yourself down.

Lay yourself down

(Im going through the strangest changes) x 2

Im am the Chrysalid Born
Track Name: The Widow
You leave the light on even though Im not coming home,
try to ignore the consistent drone.
Starring silently at the silent phone,
somethings will come back to haunt you,
when your on your own.

Sometimes you grab the air when you are down,
some people float and some people drown
some things un fold on their own
Im never coming home

Everybody's got a different life
Everybody's gets a different death,
Everybody gets a broken heart,
While they're waiting g for the final breath.

So close your eyes then count to three,
open them up and you wont see me,
but you'll still here me humming in your ear.
Listen for the town, your not all alone.

Everybody's got a different life
Everybody's gets a different death,
Everybody gets a broken heart
While they're waiting g for the final breath
